Overview
Neurology is concerned with the examination, diagnosis and treatment of numbness or paralysis in the limbs, trembling, movement disorder, headaches, etc. and conditions such as brain or spinal cord, peripheral nerve or muscular disorders. It is not concerned with psychiatry, which treats mental illnesses such as neurosis. The hospital’s neurologists examine and treat various conditions such as cerebrovascular disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, polyneuritis, muscular dystrophy, etc. and it is a designated teaching hospital of the Japanese Society of Neurology.
As one of the foremost care facilities in the world for muscular dystrophy and other muscle diseases, we are a recognized leader in treatment methods. Our track record for this is highly rated. Also, we play an active international role on clinical issues for other neurologic conditions and of course, we involve ourselves with intractable neurological diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease. Moreover, we perform diagnoses of neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease using skin biopsy samples combined with causative gene searches. Feel free to contact us about skin biopsies via the following email address: niiddiagnosis@gmail.com
